How It Works

Three Steps and Your App Is Ready to Open

Everything is managed from the Merakit console. Your device just needs a normal internet connection.

    Create an account

    Sign up in the Merakit console. Every organization gets a free 5 GB every month.

  2. 2

    Install on a device

    Copy the install command from the console and run it on a computer or Raspberry Pi on your office network. When it finishes, the status changes to Connected.

  3. 3

    Create a web address

    Pick an address name, such as shop-cashier, and choose which app to open. The address works right away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a special IP or router setup? +

No. Your device reaches out to Merakit, so Merakit Tunnel works on office, home, and even mobile modem connections.

Can I use my own domain? +

Yes. Choose your own domain when creating an address, add the two DNS records shown in the console, then click Verify. The HTTPS padlock is set up automatically afterward.

My app already uses HTTPS, like Proxmox. Does it work? +

Yes. Enter the app address with https:// in front, for example https://192.168.1.10:8006. Apps with self-made certificates open fine too.

What happens if my balance runs out? +

Your addresses are paused, and nothing is deleted. Once you top up, they come back on by themselves. You can also set a monthly usage limit.

How is usage counted? +

By the data that passes through Merakit when visitors open your app, both in and out. The number matches the usage chart in the console.
