SMAN 1 Denpasar has become one of the pioneering schools in Bali to adopt Merakit Exam, a digital examination system, to improve the efficiency and integrity of its school examinations. The collaboration is also supported by PT Patra Developer Indonesia, which handles marketing and funding to support the digital transformation of education in schools across Indonesia.
Challenges Before Digitalization
Before adopting the Merakit Exam digital examination system, SMAN 1 Denpasar faced a range of technical and administrative challenges in running its exams. Uploading questions involved a lengthy multi-step process, students were required to enter a token every time they exited an exam, and the school depended on proctors to unlock locked student accounts. These challenges created a need for a system that was more efficient and better suited to the realities of the exam room.
Why Merakit Exam
The school found that Merakit Exam offers the essential features needed to run examinations, including anti-cheating features and live monitoring by room supervisors. The collaboration between SMAN 1 Denpasar, Merakit Indonesia, and PT Patra Developer Indonesia is also grounded in a shared vision and mission to deliver the best possible service in education.
“The system is easy to learn and easy to put into practice, which makes Merakit Exam a good fit for our school environment.” said Ari Martana, Vice Principal for Curriculum at SMAN 1 Denpasar.
Implementation Experience
From the very first time it was used, Merakit Exam has delivered a better experience for teachers and students alike. Exams now run on a lighter and more stable system, student cheating can be monitored more effectively, and uploading questions has become far simpler. Students whose accounts are locked can now be granted access again directly by the room supervisor, without waiting for a proctor to step in.
Teachers have responded positively to how easy the system is to use. Students, for their part, consider the system fairer, since the type of device they use is no longer a loophole for cheating.
Academic and Administrative Impact
The implementation of Merakit Exam has had a direct impact on the efficiency and accuracy of exam administration. Grading has become faster and more organized, while exam security is maintained through real-time supervision features.
Looking Ahead
SMAN 1 Denpasar has already planned to extend its use of Merakit Exam to other assessments, such as the TPA and formative assessments. The school hopes the system will continue to evolve and meet teachers’ needs even more fully.
“We hope the system keeps getting better and can support teachers’ needs even more effectively.” Ari Martana added.
A Call for Digital Transformation
In closing, Ari Martana encouraged other schools to consider digital transformation in how they run their examinations.
“Merakit Exam is well worth trying for schools that want to run exams with minimal resources and a high level of security.”
