Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has scheduled a 25-hour Coretax downtime, running from 17:00 WIB on Saturday, November 7, 2026, to 18:00 WIB on Sunday, November 8. During that window, every taxpayer service on Coretax DJP will be unavailable while the system undergoes maintenance.

The schedule was reported on November 5, 2026, by DDTCNews, Ortax, and the tax consultants’ association IKPI. Taxpayers still have time to finish urgent tasks. For agencies that run digital services, the schedule is also a useful case study in taking a national system offline in an orderly way.

Schedule and scope of the Coretax downtime

According to DJP, the downtime means the Coretax DJP system at coretaxdjp.pajak.go.id cannot be accessed. Ortax reported that the maintenance is meant to improve the security, reliability, and performance of DJP’s information and communication technology systems. DDTCNews described the goal as increasing system capacity to deliver better service to taxpayers.

The main website, www.pajak.go.id, remains available during the maintenance, according to Ortax. Announcements, guidance articles, and contact details can still be reached, but anything that runs through Coretax has to wait until Sunday evening.

A second outage overlaps with this one. IKPI reported that DJP’s e-Form application has been offline since 18:00 WIB on Monday, November 2, 2026, and will stay down until 23:59 WIB on Monday, November 9. Some taxpayers still use e-Form to amend annual returns for tax years before Coretax took over. Periods already reported through Coretax are handled in Coretax.

Coretax is the product of Indonesia’s core tax administration overhaul under Presidential Regulation 40/2018. It went live on January 1, 2025, replacing the older SIDJP system. According to DDTCNews, it brings 21 business processes into a single system. Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto called it “salah satu reformasi berskala besar yang saat ini menjadi senjata utama kami,” or one of the large-scale reforms that now serves as the agency’s main tool, in remarks reported on October 18, 2026.

How Coretax downtime has played out in 2026

Official DJP notices posted on pajak.go.id list at least nine Coretax downtime windows before November 2026. They fall into two groups.

Short windows lasted one to three hours, at night or before dawn on weekdays. Examples include 23:00 on January 7 to 01:00 on January 8, 03:00 to 05:00 on February 10, 03:00 to 04:00 on March 4, 22:00 to 23:00 on May 27, 22:00 on June 25 to 01:00 on June 26, and 00:00 to 03:00 on October 1, all in Western Indonesia Time.

Long windows were placed on weekends. Maintenance from 18:00 on June 5 to 05:59 on June 8 lasted almost 60 hours. The next two ran 24 hours each, from 18:00 on July 4 and from 18:00 on August 8. Among the recorded windows, the November 7 to 8 maintenance is the second-longest of the year.

Bar chart of Coretax downtime in 2026: June 5–8 almost 60 hours, July 4–5 and August 8–9 24 hours, November 7–8 25 hours, March 4 one hour

Notice periods varied as well. The notice for the January 7 window was issued the same day, the one for July 4 a day earlier, and those for May 27 and June 5 a week ahead. The current schedule was in the news from Thursday, November 5, two days before it starts.

Some notices also named outside parties that would be affected. The May 2026 notice listed external parties connected to Coretax: ILAP, PJAP, and Authorized Billing Channels. PJAP refers to licensed tax application providers, third-party software that some companies use to handle tax filings and that connects directly to DJP’s systems. The October 2026 notice also mentioned PJAP. Reports on the November window do not go into this, so PJAP users should check for notices from their own provider.

Tax status checks and the public services that wait

The effects of a Coretax outage can reach beyond tax filing. One route is the taxpayer status confirmation, known as KSWP, a check that government agencies run before granting certain public services. It is based on DJP regulation PER-43/PJ/2015.

DDTCNews explains that a KSWP status is valid when the taxpayer’s name and tax number (NPWP) match DJP records and the annual income tax returns for the last two tax years have been filed. One example is Trade Ministry Regulation 16/2025, which makes KSWP one of the requirements for import business licences. Taxpayers can request their own KSWP document through the Layanan WP menu in Coretax.

During the July 4 to 5 and August 8 to 9 maintenance windows, DJP said KSWP checks could be bypassed to keep public services running until Coretax came back online. Media reports on the November 7 to 8 window do not mention a similar arrangement. Agencies that rely on KSWP should confirm directly with their local tax office or the Kring Pajak hotline at 1500200.

What this means for taxpayers and agencies

For individual and business taxpayers

The maintenance begins late on Saturday afternoon, when most offices are already closed. Finance teams that work weekends, such as those at shops, clinics, or service businesses, will need to shift their tasks. These steps can help.

Four steps before the Coretax downtime: finish transactions before 17:00 Saturday, download key documents, reschedule work, check status after 18:00 Sunday

  1. Finish any urgent billing codes, filings, or requests before 17:00 WIB on Saturday.
  2. Download documents that others may ask for early next week, such as withholding slips, electronic filing receipts, or KSWP documents for licence applications.
  3. Move unfinished work to Sunday evening after 18:00 WIB or to Monday morning, and tell your team not to try logging in during the maintenance.
  4. Once the service is back, check the status of any transaction started shortly before 17:00 WIB, since it may have stopped partway.

Official updates remain available on pajak.go.id. For questions, every DJP notice lists the Kring Pajak line at (021) 1500200 and the email address [email protected].

For agencies that run digital services

Coretax serves taxpayers across Indonesia, so the way DJP schedules maintenance is a useful reference for local governments, hospitals, and universities that run online services. Several practices stand out in the 2026 notices: short jobs at night, major work on weekends, naming the partner systems that will be affected, and offering a fallback such as the KSWP bypass.

Do and avoid when planning downtime for public services: announce early, name partner systems, prepare a fallback; avoid last-minute notices and peak hours

Notice periods are the clearest area for improvement. A notice issued on the day of the outage makes it hard for offices to plan staff schedules and for users who depend on documents from the system. Public services also benefit from a status page that shows the live condition of the system, so users do not have to guess whether a disruption is over.

On the technical side, long downtime can be reduced with an architecture that supports rolling updates, database replication, and testing in a separate environment before changes reach production. Merakit’s cloud computing services help agencies design these patterns, and we apply the same experience in our digital government solutions for services that need to stay available to citizens.

Frequently asked questions

Is the pajak.go.id website also offline?

No. According to Ortax, www.pajak.go.id remains accessible throughout the maintenance. Only the taxpayer services on Coretax DJP, at coretaxdjp.pajak.go.id, are suspended.

Can e-Form be used while Coretax is down?

No. IKPI reported that e-Form has also been offline since November 2 and will stay down until 23:59 WIB on November 9, 2026. e-Form is also no longer used for periods that have already been reported through Coretax.

Why does Coretax go offline for maintenance so often?

DJP’s notices cite system capacity, security, reliability, and performance. DDTCNews also noted that the first year of Coretax faced many technical problems, with DJP’s IT team working every day to keep services running. A system that combines 21 business processes needs regular maintenance.

Conclusion

The November 7 to 8 Coretax downtime is long, but the schedule is known and taxpayers can plan around it. Taxpayers can wrap up urgent work before Saturday afternoon, while agencies can learn from how Indonesia’s national tax system handles maintenance.
